Apple Announces New Upgrades, iPhones and Products
On September 9, 2014, Apple announced its new iOS software, two updated iPhones and a new product. These announcements come after several months of speculation and predictions about what Apple has in store for us next.
The new iOS 8 software is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system. One the many features that has been updated is Messages. With the iOS 8 software, it’ll be easier to share photos, videos and even location through texting. Along with texting, the keyboard is now “smarter”. It will be able to recognize who you’re texting and in what app, and tweak its autocorrect based on those factors. For example, your tone in an email may be different than a text to a friend, so word suggestions will be different. Family Sharing is a new feature in the updated iOS software, which allows family members (up to six) to share music, iBooks and App Store purchases. Also included is the highly anticipated Health app. This app will serve as an activity tracker, heart rate monitor, and can communicate with your other health and fitness apps. It will be available on September 17, 2014.
The iPhone 6 along with the iPhone 6 Plus were announced, and have a few different features from previous iPhones. The iPhone 6 is 6.9 millimeters thin with a 4.7” screen. The iPhone 6 Plus 7.1 millimeters thin and has a 5.5” screen. Apple has improved the camera quality for both phones, and Apple users can now watch videos in slow motion. Customers can pre-order the new iPhones now.
Apple also announced its first new product in four years, the Apple Watch. At $349, this device is set up to work alongside the iPhones. These won’t be available until early next year.
